Our recently launched African adventure is already more than one-third full, with a truly international entry list. In the vintage category we have Canadian couple David and Barbara Berks in their 1929 Chrysler 75, a veteran of our 2016 Haka Classic Rally amongst others, and Americans Charles and Pamela Lyford in an Argentine-built 1938 Chevrolet Fangio Coupe. Post-war entries so far include two more Haka Classic crews, Germans Karl and Stephanie Schaefer in a 1958 Mercedes-Benz 220S and our old friends Gerd and Birgit Buhler in a 1972 Porsche 911 (pictured below), plus Swede Philip Lindsten (co-driver TBC) in a 1959 MGA Twin Cam, experienced Brits Claudine Bloom and Andrew Twort in a 1965 Volvo 122 Amazon, French couple Serge and Jacqueline Berthier in a 1973 Citroen Maserati SM and Italians Lorenzo Castellini and Paulo Melloni with a 1973 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super (pictured above) that has previously been campaigned on Le Jog 2012 and P2P 2016. We have two Australian crews, Stephen and Ruth Lambert in a 1973 BMW 2002 Touring (also joining us on September’s Odyssey Italia) and Brian and Hilarie Smith in a 1977 Mercedes-Benz 280E, a gold-medal winner on last year’s P2P now being prepared by Matt Bryson in Sydney. With extensive rally experience in north and east Africa, Dutch/Belgian crew Johan Gitseld and Walter Op ‘t Roodt are also bringing a Porsche 911, while entrants yet to confirm their cars include Nicholas Pryor and Lesley Stockwell, Francis Verbeiren (co-driver TBC) and our second American entry, endurance rally expert Mark Winkelman (ditto).
