After signing-on and scrutineering on the afternoon of Sunday 17th June, Rally Round’s 2018 Paris-Amsterdam Rally will be flagged away from the magnificent Chateau de Chantilly, north-east of Paris, on Monday morning. Veteran, Vintage and Classic crews alike will encounter plenty of exciting challenges as the route follows thrilling roads through delightful scenery in France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, with a few classic race circuits thrown in for good measure (including Reims, Hockenheim, Solitude and the Nurburgring). Once again crews in the Veteran and Vintage categories will compete for the Charles Jarrott Trophy, named after Britain’s first motorsport hero, whilst the Classic (pre-1969-type) category will have its own awards. It is impossible to predict who will win the Vintage honours – the competition is wide open – although among the Classics many will think Barry and Roma Weir in their 1966 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint are the crew to beat. Time will tell!
Excitement is already mounting as we await the crews’ arrival in Chantilly. You may read an overview of the route and the various refreshment and overnight halt locations in the Recce Report on our dedicated Paris-Amsterdam event page, where you’ll also find links to a daily rally blog and the latest results. Good luck, everyone!
