Grace and pace – the 2018 Gstaad Palace Challenge
A 1958 Jaguar XK150 known as Grace because it was once owned by Princess Grace of Monaco – not to mention Marilyn Monroe – is among the 25 remarkable classics taking part in the 2018 Gstaad Palace Challenge, a supremely luxurious two-day regularity contest (August 31 – September 1) organised by Rally Round and hosted by Switzerland’s world-renowned Gstaad Palace Hotel. With a route designed by Kim Bannister, the rally attracted no fewer than nine iconic Ferraris alongside other wonderful examples of automotive art from AC, Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Bentley, Jaguar, Lancia, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Rolls-Royce, and although their crews demonstrated varying levels of navigational skill all managed to complete the first day without mishap – a single puncture was the only reported problem. Day two promises to be somewhat more competitive as rally participants endeavour to win a beautiful limited-edition Chopard chronograph; for more information visit our website event page, where we will be publishing the latest summary results and leaderboard standings. You may also follow the event via news updates and photographs posted on Rally Round’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
