Lord & Lady Laidlaw sign up for Paris-Vienna

The 2016 Paris-Vienna Rally is attracting a huge amount of
interest and countless enquiries to the Rally Round office. Our latest entrants
are Jan Woien and Jan Hansen in a 1962 Maserati 3500GT, Gerd and Birgit Buhler (car TBC), Simon and Maria Shaw in a 1934 boat-tailed Blower Bentley, Albert de Mey and Nicolas Leonard in a 1927 Bentley Tourer, Jeff and Glenda Robinson in a 1926 Dodge Tourer and historic race and rally driver Lord Irvine Laidlaw and Lady Christine
Laidlaw, who will be bringing their very pretty 1935 BMW 319, pictured above. The
oldest car yet entered for the event is Chris Seaton’s 1925 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, so we already have an impressive variety of machinery
spanning 42 years and 10 different marques, and eight nations represented among the crews. You may read or download the brochure, regulations and entry form on our website event page, where you will also find the latest entry list.

Rally Round’s next great driving adventure is the Thunder
Dragon Rally to Bhutan in November. There is just one place remaining on this fabulous event, so if you would like to join us on what
promises to be an unforgettable journey we recommend you contact us without
delay; again you can find more details on our event page – click here.

Talking of memorable trips, we’d like to wish the very best of luck to vintage
motorcycle enthusiast Paul Old, who contacted the Rally Round office for advice
on route planning and distances for his endeavour to follow the original 1903
Paris-Madrid race route as closely as possible on his wonderful 1906 Lurquin et
Coudert motorcycle, pictured below. Paul is hoping to complete the route in 14
days, and we look forward to seeing his photographs of the spectacular sights along
the way. The entire Rally Round team wishes him a safe journey, and rather
better weather than we encountered on the second Paris-Madrid Rally last May!

Finally, some of you might remember our plug for the Cancer
UK Race For Life in a recent Rally Round Newsletter. Well, whether we like
it or not, the time has well and truly come for us to face reality. The extended
Rally Round race team, consisting of Liz, Jayne, Lucie, Mel, Carol and
Sandy, will be joining the ‘Pink Army’ on the 5km course at Guildford
Sports Park on Sunday May 24, so please wish us luck. We would greatly appreciate
any donations (large or small) to this extremely worthy cause, so if you can
make a contribution please click here and
follow the instructions.
