"Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose!" Genghis Khan
A thrilling rally though the wilds of Mongolia
Explore the world’s final frontier
Rally Round is thrilled to announce a fabulous new driving adventure – the Pure Mongolia rally, running over three weeks in May 2021. Starting and finishing in the Mongolian capital, Ulaanbaatar, this 5,000km event will loop north, south, east and west to explore this remote and wildly beautiful land, Route designer Kim Bannister has previously run four rallies through Mongolia and has long wanted to explore the country more widely. “It is surely the world’s final frontier,” he says, “and this might be the last opportunity to experience the country before its ancient traditions are extinguished.”
Visiting far-flung locations such as Ushglin Uvur, Amarbayasgalant, Ganga Lake and the Khongor Sand Dunes, the event will include several rest days and thrilling entertainments such as a Naadam festival of horsemanship and archery. Chiefly following dirt roads, competitors will navigate via GPS and a tulip roadbook with additional route arrows on tricky sections, but this will not be excessively arduous, car-breaking competition; our intention is to offer you a vanishingly rare opportunity to explore one of the world's most amazing places in a beautful old car, enjoying a truly memorable adventure in the company of friends old and new. Anyone who prefers not to compete is welcome to join a touring category but in any case our daily drives will be limited to 300km on unmade surfaces or 400km on tarmac and there will be no hazardous speeds or night driving.
Crews will spend most nights camping under canvas, albeit with comprehensive facilities, and we will be accompanied by expert medical and mechanical support teams, including a vehicle recovery service. As ever, you may rely on the highest levels of customer care and assistance from start to finish.
This will be a highly sociable event and an unforgettable experience for all. However, the number of places is strictly limited, so if you would like to join the adventure we suggest you contact us as soon as possible.
