Rally Round is proud to unveil an epic new driving adventure, the Haka Classic Rally, exploring the
majestic landscapes of New Zealand over 26 days in October and November 2016.
Open to vintage and classic
cars of a type built before 1969, this competitive rally will follow a 5,000km route
from Auckland to Christchurch, with plenty of exciting challenges for rally
experts and novices alike as we drive some of the world’s greatest roads and
remind ourselves of New Zealand’s rich motorsport heritage at racetracks along
Yet sport is only part of
the adventure. Relatively short daily driving distances and a range of excursions
will allow participants time to relax and savour the whole experience, time to
enjoy New Zealand’s most luxurious accommodation, time to eat and drink and
laugh, to make and strengthen friendships new and old, time simply to stand and
stare at some of the world’s greatest natural wonders, from the unalloyed brilliance of the night sky to rare wildlife, lush temperate rainforests,
strange volcanic landscapes, active glaciers, deep lakes and dramatic
mountains. Unmissable destinations will include Mount Cook, Milford Sound,
Lake Wanaka, Hamner Springs, Franz Josef Glacier, Lake Taupo and of course
Hobbiton, the movie set used on Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.
