Spring has brought a raft of new entries for this September’s Paris Biarritz Rally with some interesting cars added to the 2019 outing of Rally Round’s Paris series.
Mike Chilman and his son Toby will be joining in their 1964 Austin Healey 3000 MK III, previously campaigned on the 2017 event to Prague. A veteran of our Parisian adventures, Mike has competed on the Paris-Vienna 2016 with his wife Sally, and Paris-Amsterdam 2018 as well.
British duo Tony Eckford and Kim Pond have entered their 1967 Reliant Scimitar Coupe GT. Having rallied on both UK and European Championship events as well as club events and the Classic Marathon, driver Tony is bound to have loads of advice for novice Kim. The car was converted to rally spec in the late 80s/early 90s, and competed in many rallies and is currently being brought back to usable order for the Paris Biarritz Rally.
A stunning 1971 Maserati Indy 4200 driven by Ralph Hummel and Sabine Schuebel from Germany, also features. The car was originally delivered to Italy, later sold to Germany where it had a complete restoration, then sold to an owner in Luxembourg. It was bought by Ralph in 2015 and he and Sabine will make their Rally Round debut as they have so far only done club events and only one rally with tulip roadbooks before.
Stephen and John Ward join us once again in their 1924 Bentley 3 Litre Speed, while Barry and Roma Weir are set to take on another Parisian adventure in their 1966/67 Alfa Romeo GTV. They were second overall in the Classic category last year on Paris: Amsterdam.
David and Natasha Royds are also previous competitors on our Paris-Vienna 2016 and Paris-Amsterdam 2018 events. Having been forced to swap cars last minute in 2018, they are campaigning their beloved 1921 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost.
Making their Rally Round debuts, Robert and Lorraine Frost bring their 1969 Mercedes 280SL, while Michael Joseph and Yusuf Sadiq will drive a 1956 Alvis Bristol 405 DH.
Peter Trotter and Celia Djivanovic, who also competed on last year’s Parisian adventure to Amsterdam, will also join us but have yet to decide in which vehicle.
Entries are still available for this stunning six-day competitive rally for the Charles Jarrott Trophy, from Versailles to the Atlantic Coast
